Love Will Keep Us Alive

When I Look At You
I Can See The Sadness In Your Eyes
In These Desperate Times
We Get Pushed And Shoved From Every Side

I Can’t Love You If You Won’t Let Me
Can’t Touch Me If You Don’t Try
I Can Feel You
I Know That You’re Ready To Take It To The Other Side

Love Will Keep Us Alive
Let’s Make The Moment Right
It’s Now Or Never
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Even The Darkest Night
Will Shine Forever
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love, Love Will Keep Us Alive

When You Walk Away
There’s An Empty Feeling In My Mind
As The Days Go By
We Get Caught Up In Our Separate Lives

If You Need Me
You Know I’ll Come Running
Right To You
Just Give Me A Sign
I Won’t Leave You
We’ll Make It Together
And Take It To The End Of Time

Love Will Keep Us Alive
Let’s Make The Moment Right
It’s Now Or Never
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Even The Darkest Night
Will Shine Forever
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love, Love Will Keep Us Alive

Oh, I’ve Got A Lot Of Loving To Show You
You Know I’d Never Want To Control You
I Only Want To Be By Your Side

I Can’t Love You If You Won’t Let Me
Can’t Touch Me If You Don’t Try
I Can Feel You
I Know That You’re Ready To Take It To The Other Side

Love Will Keep Us Alive
Let’s Make The Moment Right
It’s Now Or Never
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Even The Darkest Night
Will Shine Forever
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love, Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive
Alive
Love Will Keep Us Alive

  • The Game of Life

    The time has come
For me to talk to you
    And I don’t mean
    To hurt your pride
But everybody needs a friend sometimes
To make you see the lightIn the game of life
    The strong survive
    We’re on a one-way street
We gotta make it out alive
And never let ‘em drag us down
    In the game of life
    We live and die
    Another breath begins
Another chance to win the fight
From the moment that you hit the ground
    In the game of life

    You’re born to hunt
    And never run away
    And then you’re hunted
    By the prey
    The wounded deer
    Leaps highest to the sun
    Until his day is done

    In the game of life
    The strong survive
    We’re on a one-way street
We gotta make it out alive
And never let ‘em drag us down
    In the game of life
    We live and die
    Another breath begins
Another chance to win the fight
From the moment that you hit the ground

    Here comes the morning
    It’s time to play
    The game of life
    The game of life

    In the game of life
    The strong survive
    We’re on a one-way street
We gotta make it out alive
And never let ‘em drag us down
    In the game of life
    We live and die
    Another breath begins
Another chance to win the fight
From the moment that you hit the ground
    It’s the game of life
    The game of life

  • Under the Same Sun

Possibly the greatest song I’ve ever heard.

This is one of the best songs by any band ever. And after all these years I still haven’t grown tired of it. The words and the rhythm, absolutely brilliant.

Under the Same Sun – Scorpions
    I saw the morning
It was shattered by a gun
Heard a scream, saw him fall, no one cried
    I saw a mother
She was praying for her son
Bring him back, let him live, don’t let him die

    Do you ever ask yourself
Is there a Heaven in the sky
Why can’t we get it right

’cause we all live under the same sun
We all walk under the same moon
Then why, why can’t we live as one

    I saw the evening
    Fading shadows one by one
We watch the lamb, lay down to the sacrifice
    I saw the children
    The children of the sun
How they wept, how they bled, how they died

    Do you ever ask yourself
Is there a Heaven in the sky
Why can’t we stop the fight

’cause we all live under the same sun
We all walk under the same moon
Then why, why can’t we live as one

Sometimes I think I’m going mad
We’re loosing all we had and no one seems to care
But in my heart it doesn’t change
We’ve got to rearrange and bring our world some love

    And does it really matter
If there’s a heaven up above
We sure could use some love

’cause we all live under the same sun
We all walk under the same moon
Then why, why can’t we live as one
’cause we all live under the same sky
We all look up at the same stars
Then why, tell me why can’t we live as one

  • Mesmerized

Yesterday I got home and did weights for about 45 minutes. After which I did a flash banner and read a few pages of the Paulo Coelho book. I got tired and dosed off. I told my brother to wake me up at 10.30pm so that I could post another extract from the book and also continue with my Maya self learning. But instead I woke up at 10.50pm and went back to sleep thinking I could wake up at 11.30pm in order to prepare myself for my run.

All was not to be as I found myself waking up suddenly only to realize that it was 1.30am in the morning. I forced myself out of bed and went over to my laptop in my dining room and switched it off without saving the flash banner I did. I realized my mistake only when I got home today and read the email from Michelle saying that she no longer needed the banner.

And in the morning today, I was supposed to alight at Chua Chu Kang MRT station but I ended up missing the station totally. I had to alight at the next station to take the train back to Chua Chu Kang. By then I had missed the shuttle service to my camp.

Though I did manage to reach camp in time, I couldn’t believe how I could have let my mind drift away. If I am not wrong I think I was listening to the song, Roses are Red by the late Jim Reeves.

When I think about it, I can’t help but simile. I was so mesmerized by that song that I forgot I was even in the army.

  • Breakaway

Since today was a holiday my aunt invited my whole family for lunch at her home in Jurong. Although I was reluctant to go there my good conscience got the better of me. Besides it has been many years since I went to her house. I think it’s been more than 5 odd years and I don’t have a clear memory of where she stays.

The lunch was okay, nothing too fancy. I wasn’t complaining because a hungry man doesn’t have the right to comment upon the food. He just eats to satisfy his appetite. After lunch we sat a for while waiting for a few more relatives to arrive. Once the house become a little crowded my dad signaled it was time to head home. So we said our good byes and left. My brother and yours truly decided to take the bus to Jurong MRT station.

Once at the station, we decided to head to good old Popular bookstore. After browsing through some books, ok I admit I was looking for Paulo Coelho’s books but was utterly disappointed when I realized that Popular doesn’t carry his catalogue, we headed to CD Rama next.

And just for information, Rama is the first four letters of my father’s name. Why am I telling this right now? Because I felt that it was a strange coincidence and it was fated for me to go to this store that had my father’s name on it. Ok I am giving an elaborate excuse to go there and buy Kelly’s cd.

Whose is Kelly? Kelly Clarkson is the toothsome winner of Fox TV’s first American Idol competition. She is now my number 1 female singer. I just love her voice. She has the best singing voice in the music industry today, and hearing her sing some of the songs on her album, Breakaway, gives me goosebumps.

Most of you might not know this, but when it comes to music I am quite lost. I am not the type of person who runs down to the music store to buy the latest hits. Heck I don’t even know who is on the billboard right now.

I just buy or listen to any music that sounds good.I have always believed that songs you need to hear will always somehow find its way to your ears. And the moment you hear it you know this is a great song sang by a great artist.

This is how I got to know, the Scorpions, Seal, Michael Jackson, ABBA, Boney M, James Blunt, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Bonnie Tyler, Whitney Houston, Beatles, Michael Bolton, Westlife, Gorillaz, Linkin Park, Limp Bizkit, Vonda Shephard, Metallica, Aerosmith, Rolling Stone ,Queens, Sex Pistol, Madonna, Nirvana, David Gates, Kylie Minogue, Coldplay, U2, Elvis Presley, Velvet Underground, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley and the Wailers. Well there are still so many more. But I guess you get the picture.

And by the gods, Kelly Clarkson is good, really good.

  • Kiss from a Rose

    One of my favorite songs.

It’s been 10 years since the “Kiss from a Rose” was sung by Seal. But this song has never left my mind.

Seal has one of the greatest voices I have ever heard and everything he sings is pretty much a hit. He one of those rare artist who has an endless depth of musical knowledge. His messages of peace and brotherhood, for all their sincerity, sometimes cross the line between inspiring and overwrought but nonetheless Seal’s vocals are untouchable.

“Kiss From A Rose” is a simply stupendous love song, its supple melody, rich orchestral backing and steady build providing the backdrop for one of Seal’s most remarkable vocal performances. It’s dramatic, evocative, masterful and wholly deserving of its Grammy. This was the song that made me a fan of Seal.

    Kiss from a Rose – Seal 1994
There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea.
You became the light on the dark side of me.
Love remained a drug that’s the high and not the pill. But did you know,
    That when it snows,
    My eyes become large and,
The light that you shine can be seen.Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
    Ooh…,
The more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah.
And now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.

There is so much a man can tell you,
    So much he can say.

    You remain,
My power, my pleasure, my pain.
Baby, to me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny
Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby?

    But did you know,
    That when it snows,
My eyes become large and the light that you shine can be seen.

    Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
Ooh…, the more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave,

I’ve been kissed by a rose on the grave,
I’ve been kissed by a rose
…And if I should fall, at all
I’ve been kissed by a rose

There is so much a man can tell you,
    So much he can say.

    You remain
My power, my pleasure, my pain.

To me you’re like a growing addiction that I can’t deny
Won’t you tell me is that healthy, baby.

    But did you know,
    That when it snows,
    My eyes become large and,
The light that you shine can be seen.

    Baby,
I might compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave,
Ooh…, the more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah

Now that your rose is in bloom,
A light hits the gloom on the grave.

Yes I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the grave.
Ooh…, the more I get of you
    Stranger it feels, yeah.

Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave,

Now that your rose is in bloom.
A light hits the gloom on the grave.
